The inception of establishing City College of El Salvador started with the brilliant idea of Honorable City Mayor Edgar S. Lignes to put up a higher education institution, that can develop competent professionals for the growing industries of the City. Mayor Lignes has been guided by the will from God to serve and provide the people of El Salvador City the opportunity to improve their conditions by giving them free quality tertiary education.
The planning process started when the Local Chief Executive officially expressed his interest, during a MANCOM (Management Committee) meeting, to establish a local higher education institution, that is now known as City College of El Salvador (CCE). His fervent desire to have a local College gravitates on the principle that education must be for all. The dream of establishing a local College finally became a reality on November 06, 2017 when the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City of El Salvador passed Ordinance No. 019-S. 2017, which created and established City College of El Salvador (CCE).
The College initially offered five academic programs: Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship, Bachelor of Public Administration, Bachelor of Arts in English Language, Bachelor of Science in Social Work, and Bachelor of Science in Office Administration. The aforementioned academic programs catered Three Hundred Fifty (350) students during the first Academic Year (2018-2019). The number of students has been doubled during the second Academic Year (2019-2020) with a total enrollment of Seven Hundred Fifty (750) students. In its third year of operation, it has a total of Nine Hundred plus students.
City College of El Salvador is one of the public local Higher Education Institutions to be the recipient of the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (RA 10931) wherein students have the opportunity to enjoy free tuition and other school fees. With this development, City College of El Salvador has been committed to deliver quality education for the students’ holistic development.
